Featured in the “Enlightened Development” exhibition at Los Angeles ’ Architecture and Design Museum and it was open for educational tours before being put on the market. The benefits of solar panels highlighted by actor/activist Ian McKellen coupled with the viewing of Al Gore’s film “An Inconvenient Truth” spearheaded Tom Schey to develop project7ten.

The home uses solar panels, high-performance windows and insulation, and recycled and renewable materials. Green features include a rainwater reclamation system and grey water recycling, locally-sourced sustainable materials, recycled content countertops and insulation, FSC-certified lumber, rooftop solar panels, native landscaping for shading, Energy Star appliances, and Kohler water-efficient fixtures.  A portion of the sale of project7ten is being donated to Healthy Child Healthy World (HCHW), an organization dedicated to educating the public about environmental toxins that affect children’s health
